Adjustable Bed Buying Guide- Electric Bases, Mattress Selection, Sleep Comfort Systems

Adjustable Bed Systems

Many people think adjustable beds are mainly used in hospitals for medical reasons. Or what you might need when you grow old. Very few people understand how comfortable these systems are. It is the "Cadillac of Sleep Systems". Don't think that this bed is mainly for sitting up watching TV or for reading. There is that benefit. However that is not the best reason to have one.

The biggest benefit is various sleeping positions you can personally set. For example, raising your head just 3 to 6 inches makes an extremely comfortable sleeping position. The same with raising your feet. You really have to try one to feel the ultimate comfort! If you are looking for a new mattress for your master bedroom, find a local sleep store and check it out! It is definitely worth your consideration.

Shopping Tips! Electric Adjustable Beds

Shopping for Adjustable Bed Systems.

Think of shopping as a two step process:

  1. Pick Mattress First
  2. When selecting a mattress, you will want to select a foam style mattress, either latex or memory foam or a mattress with a combination of the two. I don't recommend an innerspring mattress because it simply will not hold up long term.

When shopping for yourself, take the time to try an adjustable sleep system. First lay on the bed for a couple of minutes, then with the remote, raise you head up about 4 to 6 inches. After that, elevate your feet up to about the same height. Try different positions! You will see amazing spectrum of sleeping comfort!

Mattress pricing is independent of the adjustable base price. In other words, think of it as making two separate purchases, a mattress and an adjustable base. Latex Mattress

  3. After choosing a mattress, you’ll have to decide on the size of your bed and whether to have a dual system or a single system. A dual system lets each sleep partner adjust their side to their own comfort level. This the more expensive option, because you are buying two adjustable bases with two remotes and two mattresses. The bases sit side by side and with bedding, looks like one bed. Sizes that always have 2 bases are King and California King. You may purchase a Queen Size as a dual system also.

There are other Manufacturers' that offer Electric and Non Electric adjustable bases at varying price points. I'm not recommending TempurPedic over these! The above pricing is used as a base line on what you can expect to pay. Check manufacturer’s warranty’s when selecting bases. (See Warranty’s)
