Baby Cribs: 5 Things You Should Know

Ready to buy your dream baby crib for your newborn baby? Here are a few bits of tips for you in making sure your baby has the best experience in the world.

1. The Mattress and the Crib Should be TIGHT!

The last thing you want is for your baby to get stuck in between the crib and the mattress. Unless the mattress fits tightly, it's possible for a baby to get their hand or foot in the crease and then be unable to get it out.

This could cause the baby a lot of pain; it could even result in injury. Whatever you do, make sure the mattress and the baby crib fit snugly.

2. Try a Variety of Toys!

Most parents try to teach their kids using words. But research has repeatedly shown that babies are best taught using a variety of modalities, including play and music.

Getting your baby a variety of toys will not only increase his or her enjoyment, but it'll also help your baby along with him or her development. Different kinds of toys result in different synapses developing, helping your baby grow smarter sooner.

3. Check the Warranty

Most crib manufacturers will have at least a one year warranty on their product. If they don't have a one year warranty, then you might want to rethink your purchase.

A warranty shows that the product makers are ready to stand behind their products. It also means you can rest assured knowing things won't go wrong. If anything did, you'll be able to get a replacement or a refund.

4. Do NOT Buy a Used Crib.

Safety standards change. New cribs are made to much more stringent safety standards than old cribs. The safety of where your baby sleeps and spends their time is not something you want to gamble with over saving a few dollars.

If you do buy a used crib, examine it very, very carefully. Push and pull on various parts to see if anything breaks. Remember - Your baby is going to be punching and kicking at the sides, so you need to see if it will hold up.

Used baby cribs could even be recalled models. Make sure that if you're buying a used bed that it isn't being recalled - Google the exact model number to be sure. Again, it's highly recommended that you buy a new crib for safety reasons.

5. Avoid Pillows and Comforters.

Don't wrap your baby in blankets. They can become tangled and not be able to get out. They can also overheat quickly. At worse this can result in Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

Wrap your baby carefully in clothing that has no strings, buttons or anything like that. Make sure they're warm, but also safe. There you have it - These are five things you should know. The next step is to browse a reputable baby crib selling website on the internet. They'll have great selections and a good warranty policy so you can find the perfect crib at the perfect price.
