How to Choose a Latex Bed

What to look for is a 6” latex core or more. This core will be firm and dense. Then adding layers of softer latex on top of the core will determine comfort level.

Choose the medium firmness first to lie on. (Try it for at least 10 minutes in positions you normally sleep). Try each firmness to see which you like the best. It is that simple!

What Is Latex?

What is Talalay Latex? There are two main processes for manufacturing latex. One is the Dunlop process and the other is the Talalay Process. The most common process for today’s latex mattress is the Talalay. Following is information from Latex International (The major manufacturer of Talalay latex in the U.S.)

Latex Core Talalay process a six-step eco-friendly production method that transforms the milk of the tropical rubber tree into the world’s finest latex foam. Latex is the milky white liquid that is tapped from the trunks of mature rubber trees. It is then converted into an ultra cushioning material with a wide range of firmness and comfort, through heat, vacuum, and freezing. The end product to mattress manufactures is in the form of solid latex cores approximately 6" thick, and in varying degrees of firmness.
The 6" latex cores are used as an entire mattress, or sliced to desired thickness to be used as comfort layers for premium mattresses. It is 5 times denser than polyurethane foam, which is used in 90% of all mattresses manufactured around the world. And yes, latex is quite a bit more expensive initially but because of its life span is the least expensive in the long run.

Uniquely Healthy

Talalay latex is ideal for allergy sufferers! It is naturally hypoallergenic, dust mite resistant and antimicrobial, inhibiting the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew. No artificial or synthetic materials have been added to provide these benefits.
